Graduation

Vancouver Island University Graduation June 2017. So the 30 seconds of fame, a piece of paper and now what?

VIU Graduations June 2017- The Mckinon Family.

Well everybody, I advise you that commencement is a wonderful day, you get a cap and gown for 2.5 hours sitting on a stage being stared down by all families and believe me I sat in the center of the stage at the back and had the brightest light shining down on me. I had to apologize to the chancelor when shaking her hand, that my hands where sweaty- the least they could do is have the Air conditioning going. We graduating students just a simple reminder that life is still not great they make you sit in a gown with no A/C- as a student you go through hell giving in papers and assignments, honestly university makes you poor, drains any emotions you have and still graduating they suck every inch of water out of your body and it shows through your pores. Just to prepare you for the real world, thank you education system.

If I may add that the majority of the students where on the phones, what is the point of graduating together- is to celebrate the event together as a class- well my class were all on their phones when I crossed the stage. Well I felt quite disrespected if I might add but Kirsty what were you expecting a standing ovation? Well no, just free food (the South African coming out in me).

It was exhausting 5 years of University or College experience and it all came down to a 30 second walk across the stage and a piece of paper with my name on it (in my mind it didn't feel right). It meant so much to me but hardly to anybody else (howcome?). You know someone once said to me that once you get where you going don't forget to turn around and realize how far you have come. I GUESS I AM DOING THAT NOW!

My apologies for the ranting!
